Google has introduced a new safety feature called “On-the-Go” for its Meet video conferencing app on Android devices. This feature automatically disables the user’s camera and microphone when they are detected to be walking, ensuring privacy protection during Meet sessions.
When enabled, On-the-Go utilizes the phone’s motion sensors to determine if the user is walking. If so, the camera and microphone are automatically disabled to avoid unintentional sharing of the user’s surroundings or audio with other Meet participants.
To access the On-the-Go feature, download the latest version of the Meet app on your Android device and navigate to Settings > Privacy > On-the-Go.
As a widely-used video conferencing app, Google Meet caters to businesses, schools, and individuals worldwide, offering features such as video calls, screen sharing, and chat. The addition of the On-the-Go safety feature is a significant enhancement to Meet, providing users with an extra layer of privacy protection while using the app.
