Sony Unveils Project Q: A Game-Streaming Handheld Powerhouse

Sony has introduced a new handheld streaming device that will be able to play PS5 games over Wi-Fi via Remote Play. The Project Q device has an 8-inch LCD screen with 1080p resolution and a refresh rate of 60Hz. The screen is coupled to a DualSense controller, which has all of the same buttons and functionality as the PS5 controller except for the touchpad, which will probably be integrated into the touchscreen.

Sony specifies that you will only be able to stream PS5 titles that have been downloaded onto your console, thus no native or cloud gaming appears to be planned at this time, but this may change by the time it formally launches. It has not yet revealed pricing information, but it has confirmed that Project Q will be available later this year.

Sony also introduced their PlayStation official wireless earbuds, in addition to Project Q. These in-ear buds will include a “new wireless technology developed by Sony” that will deliver lossless audio and reduced latency over Bluetooth.
