Attention PlayStation fans! Sony is rolling out a new beta update for PS5 starting this Thursday. Let’s see what exciting features it brings:
- Personalized 3D Audio: This update lets you create a custom 3D audio profile for your headphones or earbuds. By taking a short sound test, the PS5 will adjust the audio settings to perfectly match your hearing. This can make your gaming experience even more immersive, allowing you to pinpoint sounds from characters and objects around you in the game world.
- Remote Play Control: You can now control who can access your PS5 through Remote Play on a per-user basis. This means you can easily grant or restrict access to friends or family members who use your console.
- Adaptive Charging (limited access): This feature is currently only available for users with the latest, slim PS5 model. Adaptive charging helps save power by optimizing how much power goes to your controller (DualSense, DualSense Edge, PlayStation VR2 Sense, or Access Controller) while the PS5 is in rest mode.
Who can participate in the beta?
Sony is inviting users from the US, Canada, Japan, UK, Germany, and France to join the beta program. If you’re chosen, you’ll receive an email invitation with instructions on how to download the update.
What about the final update?
While the beta lets you try out new features early, some of them might not be included in the final PS5 update expected to be released globally in the coming months.
Here’s a quick recap of recent PS5 updates:
- This week’s update lets you share a URL to invite others to join your game sessions.
- The June update introduced voice commands to open game help guides and Discord voice chat directly from the console.
- The update before that focused on child accounts, allowing them to connect third-party apps and services under parental control.
